Mixed Media Acrylics Watercolor

As an avid backpacker, hiker, and paddle boarder, much of my art is inspired by my time spent in nature. The textures, patterns, and colors found in the forest, water, farmland, and mountains of the Inland Northwest serve as an endless source of inspiration.

My primary passion is acrylic painting and mixed media texture art. I focus on pushing the boundaries of color while creating expressive lines and rich texture. My art ranges from loose and spontaneous brush and palette knife work to deeply layered and highly textured mixed media pieces. I move between realistic and abstract sometimes working into collage and often including found objects and texture mediums to emphasize depth and create layers of interest. For me, inspiration and texture are synonymous. Inspiration might be on the veins of a dry leaf, the layers of peeling graffiti beneath a bridge, or found in the erosion lines of a rock.

Besides acrylic painting, I also work with watercolor, pen and ink, pastel, and oil. While in college, I traveled, painted, and studied art throughout Australia and South America, eventually graduating with a BA from Walla Walla University with the intention of teaching. I currently teach children’s and adult art classes at the Corbin Art Center and Shine Art Center. I also teach at various senior centers through the Spokane Community Collage Act2 program.

Currently, you can see my work at Pottery Place Plus and Artemesia in Spokane, WA. Also, look for me at local events, markets, and First Fridays.
