David is an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer. His professional experience also includes work as a web designer and art director, and he maintains a freelance business, Red Anvil Design Works. As an educator, he has presented on graphic design issues, taught at the college level, and served as a curriculum advisor at the high school level. His graphic design, book design, and illustration efforts have been recognized for excellence by a diverse list of professional organizations.
Having completed a 35-year career working in higher education, David is now concentrating on creating personal artwork, with a particular interest in nature subjects—including animals, insects, and local landmarks—as well as railroad and industrial subjects. He continues to work as a freelance designer and illustrator, currently producing artwork for various public transit systems and working on brand identity work and public art projects—which he feels helps inform his personal artistic vision.
Through his professional work David supports a variety of non-profit organizations, civic projects, and fundraising efforts. His civic contributions were recognized with the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Art, from the City of Pullman/Pullman Chamber of Commerce. When not creating art, David can often be found playing music. He has performed in the Pacific Northwest for several decades and has also toured professionally as a drummer.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I welcome and enjoy the technical challenge of capturing details accurately while also knowing I have the leeway to add artistic interpretation—precision meets style, perhaps. My objective is to continue to grow as an artist and infuse the finer points of what is considered “fine art” into the realm of the digital world.
I am very interested in the creative process, and it is my intention to transcend some of the limitations of the digital medium—to produce images that are unique and that appeal on many levels—I can’t think of anything I would rather spend time doing.
