The tapered bell prevents the butter from falling out. 1 ½” of water in the bottom creates an air seal when the top is put back in place. This seal keeps the butter fresh. The butter dish can be kept on your kitchen counter so the butter will always be soft and spreadable. Cedar sprigs are impressed on the bottom part of this piece.
