Students will be provided with all materials and supplies to make their own art papers using the eco print process. Eco printing is a form of natural dyeing. It is an ecologically sustainable form of steam contact printing, with plant material, on natural fiber fabrics or paper. No inks or paints are used; all the color and patterns come directly from the leaves and other plant materials.
We will use high quality pre-mordanted watercolor paper to make 20 4"x 6" eco printed papers. Students will also receive a set of instructions to be able to repeat the process at home.
Bring a snack and a drink, if you like, and wear practical clothes and shoes for working with plant material and hot water. We will have time to eat while we are steaming the paper and going over the syllabus.
