I have always loved paper and books, so it is only natural
that I should be papermaker and book artist. My love of this medium
began when I was very young and my mother showed me a piece of Japanese
paper that had leaves embedded in it. I was in awe, and still am, with
'the wonder' that is paper. To consider that a pile of weeds can be
turned into something beautiful thrills me to the core.
I take my inspiration from nature, the original artist.
Going out into the natural world to collect the raw materials for my art
provides me with ample opportunity to be inspired. In my work I strive
to bring to the wild,
hurried pace of the civilized world a bit of the beauty, calm and continuity that nature supplies.
For me, my art is a place to rest . . . to renew my spirit. My desire is that it be such for others also.
