During highschool, I had a class in manuscript writing with an edged fountain pen. This class, almost 40 years ago, began my lifelong fascination with the written word. From then on, I was hooked! I began taking art, design and calligraphy classes; as many as I could fit into my schedule.
Following high school, I attended Gonzaga University where I received a BA degree in Communications with emphasis in Graphic Advertising and a minor in Art. Increasingly interested in calligraphy, I went on to many more design and letterform classes, attending The Spokane Art School, The Oregon School of Arts & Crafts, Calligraphic Conventions, Workshops and a year long study in Seattle during 1995.
I collect and research wonderful words that touch my heart; then pick just the right calligraphic style to fit the quote. Many use handmade papers, collage, or paper marbling as I combine by love of color and painting with letters to design greeting cards, handmade journals, treasure boxes, quotations and one-of-a-kind art pieces.
I have exhibited at The Corbin Art School, The Spokane Art School, Show of Hands Gallery, The Civic Theater Gallery, Northwest Artists in Coeur d?Alene, Crafter?s Showcase, Homespun in Boise and various banks and libraries. I have been a part of an educational exhibit for the Spokane Interstate Fair for many years and also an exhibitor at the Custer Art &
Craft Shows for over 20 years.
In addition to these, I sell a line of hand-painted verses and sayings as well as special one-of-a-kind art pieces and custom orders out of my store in the Spokane Valley. I am also the author of a published book.
It is my mission to comfort and inspire with this artwork from my heart.
