My career in art started upon graduation with a major in art and a
minor in art education. I taught in Ephrata for 4 years, Mead High
School, for 31 years and completed my master's degree at Whitworth
College. While teaching at Mead, I established and taught-programs in
pottery, jewelry, batik and leather craft. I also taught jewelry at
Whitworth for a 12 years as an adjunct.
Having many interests in a variety of art forms throughout the years,
my retirement from education allowed, me time to focus on just one
media - creating and selling hand made silver jewelry.
My jewelry creations are made of sterling silver and involve either
the fabrication or casting process, sometimes. both. I tend to use
informal balance; texture and form become focal point and use of stones
are for accent only. My goal is to make unique pieces that incorporate a
variety of materials and textures such as stones, pearls, wood, etc.
This approach along with incorporating asymmetrical design allows me to
produce jewelry that I consider being one of a kind mini-sculptures
whereby each piece is original and unique.
